LLOCS DE CRUISING A CATALUNYA
04 NOV 09
GAY.CAT PRESENTS TO THE WORLD THE WEIRDEST ART EXHIBITION AT THE MOMENT ON EARTH.
GAY.CAT is sad to tell you that he is not the creator of this weird exhibition but it is quite happy to be the one to write this post about it.

What I am going to tell you is one of the most weirdest experiences I can imagine and I hope you can realise who rare my discovery has been. In fact I discovered the artist's works last year but it was yesterday that I saw again a exhibition of this unique artist.
It happened yesterday, March 27th 2009. While most people in Catalonia were ready for the Champions final I just went to Sitges. I walked and walked until I crossed a disco called Atlantida. Then I reached the gay nudist beach. I crossed the railways and then I entered a famous gay cruising forest.
And it was in this forest where GAY.CAT was able to discover the weirdest exhibition I can imagine!
In this forest there is an artist – I wonder who he is. I have a piece from last year where I read TONIS – that since last year creates works of art and leaves them hanging on the trees! So as people from around the world visit Sitges the artist works must be known worldwide by the gay community. But not from the big public.
The unknown artist uses used bottles and makes different shapes. He also uses canes and things you can find in a forest or in the beach at the end of the forest.
As you enter the forest from the beach – I imagine you still can see this during some weeks! – there is a Coke bottle hanging from a tall tree. It has a little of dark cola left and it has also a green bottle cut in a way that you seem to see wings. As you go inside the forest there is also another bottle hanging from a taller wing tree. In this case there are plastics painted in the gay rainbow colours! This artist is clearly a very proud one and GAY.CAT is proud of him too!
If you go through the gay forest towards the top there is a moment when you reach a wide path which helps fire stopping and where cars or bycicles can move if necessary. Next to this path and facing sunset sun there is what GAY.CAT calls "the current exhibition":
The exhibition is located in a very visible place and as I have said it receives the sun at sunsetting. As I visited it there were not other visitors around so that there was silence and mystery.
I can assure you that this exhibition deserves to be seen because it brings to the senses sensations that no MoMa, Tate Modern, Macba can bring to you.
For example there was one object consisting in a big bottle surrounded by four other bottles. All this bottles are worked giving them a customization. From the central bottle there were hunging about four canes. These canes had been working with holes. OH, MY GOD, WHAT A MISTIC FEELING: In the silence of the forest the canes touched each other thanks to the wind and that made a sound. It was incredible! It was as if I was not alone! There was nobody in the forest and that sound … that sound was so powerful! It almost made me cry. I could not leave the exhibition. That sound brought by the canes through the wind was one of the most poetic and nostalgic sounds I can imagine. I would have remained there forever listening to that sound. It made not me feel alone. The artist had afforded that thanks to his work nature could communicate with me. THE WIND WAS TALKING TO ME thanks to the artist.
There were six other works from the unknown artist. One of my favourites had long spiral plastic strips and at the end it had taps of different colours. As in any good exhibition in this exhibition you also had details to look at … so about 20 minutes after been there I realised …. that THE TAPS HAD THE COLOURS OF THE GAY RAINBOW! WHAT A SENSE OF FREEDOM!
Another work was a green bottle. It was also hanging of course – hanging means that the work of art moves through the wind as the genial artist seems to desire! That green bottle had a lot of strips.
And at the end of the hanging there was a very very lovely piece of art ideal for a lonely forest. It was a Santa Claus hat put in a way that it make it seem like the good ghost of the forest.
So between this spiritual image of an old man and the quiet sound of the canes and the sun setting and the solitude of the place I felt I was in the most strange exhibition I could be ever. So strange that I also could take any piece of art and bring back home. But the geniality of the artist was such that all those pieces of art only had sense in that forest so that nobody would take them out of the forest. No Picassos or Dalis would have afforded that geniality.
So, remember that in Sitges there is the strangest art exhibition you can imagine. It is free, it is open 24 hours and nature is also part of it. Night and Day.
